Orchard House Residential Care Home

Orchard House is a residential care home providing personal care for up to 33 older people, including those with dementia. At inspection, 20 people were being supported across two floors in a single adapted building. The home has made significant improvements to medicine management, with staff receiving additional training and competency checks to ensure safe practice. A new manager, supported by an outside consultant, is driving further improvements, and the provider has overhauled quality assurance systems to give better oversight of the service.

People told inspectors they felt safe at Orchard House and received safe care and support. Staff demonstrated good understanding of safeguarding procedures and were confident in reporting concerns. Risks to people's safety were assessed thoroughly and well managed, with care plans detailing individual needs and current risks. While many new systems have been recently implemented, they are becoming embedded into staff practice.
