Merrimans Respite Care Unit

Merrimans Respite Care Unit provides short-term accommodation and personal care for up to 9 adults with physical and learning disabilities, supporting around 70 people across the year. The service operates over two floors and offers respite care to give family carers a break from their caring responsibilities.

The service demonstrates strong safety practices and quality monitoring. Staff receive training in medicine administration with competency assessments, and the service follows safe procedures for recording and dispensing medicines. Risk assessments appropriately identify and mitigate potential safety concerns for residents. The service employs positive behaviour support principles to assist people in the least restrictive way possible, and has systems in place for gathering feedback and making continuous improvements.
