Merlewood House provides residential care and personal care for up to 6 people with autism. At the time of inspection, 4 people were using the service. The home is designed to support people in living independently with choice, rights and social inclusion.

A relative commented, "It gives me peace of mind knowing my relative is there. It's marvellous. " Inspectors observed residents were relaxed and content in the company of staff and managers.

Relatives felt people were safe at the service.

Staff demonstrated awareness of abuse indicators and knew appropriate safeguarding procedures. They had received training on positively responding to behaviour and protection matters. Appropriate pre-employment checks were in place before staff started working at the service.
