About Maer Lane

Maer Lane is a residential care home in Shropshire, providing personal care and support to autistic people and people with a learning disability. The findings below set out the CQC's most recent assessment of the service.

Maer Lane is a specialist residential care home providing personal care and support to up to 9 autistic people or people with a learning disability. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall. Inspectors found kind, attentive staff who knew people well, supported choice and involved families, with good effective and responsive care.

However, shortfalls were identified in safety and leadership. Risk assessments for conditions like diabetes and dementia lacked detail, some environmental checks missed hazards including window restrictors and fire signage, and mould was found in bathrooms. Provider oversight, including of PRN medicines, was not always effective, though some issues were corrected during the assessment.
