Kynance Residential Home

Kynance Residential Home, on the Isle of Wight, provides accommodation and personal care for older people, some of whom are living with dementia. The CQC rates it Requires Improvement overall. Inspectors found staff kind and consistent, with detailed care plans and good partnership working with health professionals, but care was not always delivered flexibly around individual preferences, particularly for people cared for in bed.

Governance systems had failed to identify these issues, including task-led care practices, and the provider had not always met statutory requirements, such as notifying the CQC of a significant incident. The provider was found in breach of regulations relating to governance and has been asked for an action plan.
