Karibu Place

Karibu Place is a residential care home supporting 6 people aged 18 and over, each with their own flat containing a kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedroom. The service provides communal facilities including a large dining area, garden and multi-use sensory and activities room. Staffing is tailored to individual needs with at least 1:1 support provided alongside additional staff on site.

During inspection, concerns were identified regarding medication management, with insufficient quantities of medicines on site at times and administration not always occurring at correct times. The inspector recommended the provider adopt best practice guidance for medicine management. Cleanliness standards were also inconsistent, presenting infection control risks, though the provider had a redecoration plan underway. Risk assessments were found to be robust and appropriately least restrictive in their approach.
