Kanner Project

Kanner provides care and accommodation for up to five people with learning disabilities, with four residents living there at the time of inspection. Each person has their own self-contained living accommodation within the home. Staff are caring and dedicated, with relatives reporting that their family members are treated with kindness, compassion and respect. Though residents are unable to verbally express their views, they appear comfortable and at ease with staff members who know them well.

Care at the service is individualised, with people placed at the heart of decision-making as far as possible. Safety is well managed across all areas, including medicines management and risk assessment, which promote independence while keeping people secure. Staff provide consistent support for people moving around the service and when out of the home, with positive behavioural support plans in place to guide care.
