Hunters Moor Neurorehabilitation Centre

Hunters Moor Neurorehabilitation Centre supports up to 42 people with neurological conditions, brain injuries and complex physical rehabilitation needs. At inspection, 24 people were using the service. Staff were recruited safely and understood their responsibilities to keep people safe. People received their medicines when needed, though improvements were required to ensure medicines administered via patches were applied safely, which the ward manager addressed immediately. Access to health professionals supported people's health and wellbeing.

Quality assurance systems needed strengthening, as audits had failed to identify issues around infection prevention and control. Risk management had improved but care records required more detailed entries to accurately reflect the care people received. Some people reported their cultural and dietary needs were not always met, with mixed feedback about meal choices. More work was needed to ensure people consistently felt their privacy and dignity were protected.
