About Fernleigh House

Fernleigh House is a residential care home in Lancashire providing support for adults with learning disabilities. The findings below set out what the CQC observed on inspection.

Fernleigh House accommodates up to six adults with severe learning disabilities, complex behavioural needs and communication difficulties. The detached modern house features two lounges, two dining rooms, an arts and crafts area, a sensory room, and single bedrooms, four with en-suite facilities. A large garden provides recreational activities for residents.

People are kept safe through robust recruitment practices and safeguarding policies. Detailed assessments guide staff on managing health care risks, and medicines are well managed overall. Staff ensure good protection from harm, though inspectors recommended that handwritten entries on Medication Administration Records be signed, witnessed and countersigned to minimise transcription errors.
