About Estervin Court Residential Care Home

Estervin Court Residential Care Home in Birmingham provides residential care for older people. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, with safety judged Inadequate, following its first inspection since opening. Inspectors found breaches of five legal regulations, covering consent, safe care and treatment, staffing, governance and recruitment checks, with risks such as fire and water safety not properly managed, and medicines not always stored safely.

Care staff were found to be kind and respectful, and people using the service spoke positively about their care and felt safe. However, oversight and quality assurance were weak, best interest decisions under the Mental Capacity Act were missing, and the provider had not gathered feedback from people to help drive improvement.
