About Douglas House

Douglas House is a nursing home in Torbay, providing care for a range of needs. Further details on the CQC's most recent findings are set out below.

Douglas House is a nursing home providing care for up to 30 people, including those with dementia, learning disabilities, mental health conditions and physical disabilities. At the time of assessment, 22 people were living there. The CQC has rated the home requires improvement, a decline from its previous good rating, after finding breaches relating to safe care and governance.

Inspectors found that risks were not always managed effectively, medicines were not always handled safely, and lessons from previous hospital admissions were not consistently applied. However, staff were found to be kind and respectful, people were protected from abuse, and there were enough staff on duty. Feedback from people and relatives was mixed, with some feeling well informed and others less so.
