Dawson Lodge

Dawson Lodge provides personal care and support for older people. The CQC rates the home as requires improvement overall, following concerns raised about risk management, medication, staffing, care plans and leadership. The service was going through a period of transition, with a new acting manager in post after considerable staff turnover, and inspectors found some areas of division among staff.

Inspectors found shortfalls in safeguarding training, capacity assessments, checks on premises and equipment, and recording of topical creams. However, people told the CQC they felt safe and well cared for, praised the food and staff kindness, and were involved in decisions about their care. More time was needed to embed improvements and fully address earlier concerns about leadership.
