Cavendish Lodge

Cavendish Lodge provides nursing and personal care for up to 8 people with diagnosed mental health conditions. The service operates across two floors with communal spaces on the ground floor. People spoke positively about the support they received from the registered manager and staff to stay well and maintain their independence, and reported that living at the home had a positive impact on their wellbeing. Staff understood their safeguarding responsibilities and could describe subtle signs of concern or abuse. Changes in people's risks were communicated during shift handovers, and staff described an open culture where learning from accidents and incidents was shared across the team.

The provider had experienced recruitment and retention difficulties, relying on temporary agency staff to maintain staffing levels. This high use of agency staff impacted consistency in some processes, particularly safe medicines management. People were supported to work towards achievable goals in their recovery through the provider's recovery programme, with staff enabling maximum choice and control in their lives using the least restrictive approach possible.
