Burton Cottages

Burton Cottages provides accommodation and personal care for up to nine autistic people across two connected cottages. A new manager was appointed in January 2021 and identified significant areas for improvement. The service faced challenges including staff vacancies, sickness absence, and reliance on agency staff, which sometimes left insufficient staff on duty during afternoons to meet people's needs. The building required refurbishment work.

Assessments of people's ability to make decisions around their care needs were limited. While the organisation held regular monitoring meetings with the registered manager and regional area manager to track progress on their action plan, inspectors found that once areas were signed off as addressed, there was insufficient follow-up to ensure improvements were maintained over time.
