Bryony House

Bryony House provides residential care and accommodation for up to 35 people aged 65 and over, with 30 residents living there at the time of inspection. The home's day-to-day monitoring systems were not effective, with incident and accident data not analysed for themes and trends. Medicine management systems were inadequate, with staff not consistently recording when people received prescribed medicines. Records relating to residents' daily needs were often incomplete, and the storage and retrieval of documents was poorly organised.

Further concerns included that prescribed creams and patches were not managed in line with best practice guidelines, and lessons were not always learnt following incidents and accidents. The registered manager had left the home in 2017 but this had not been communicated to CQC. Additionally, incorrect applications had been submitted regarding deprivation of liberty safeguarding, an issue that had not been identified internally.
