Bowland Lodge

Bowland Lodge is a residential care home supporting up to 36 people with personal care needs, particularly those living with mental health conditions and dementia. At inspection, 23 people were using the service. The home provides accommodation as a single package under one contractual agreement.

Inspectors identified significant shortfalls across multiple areas. Risk assessment procedures were inadequate, with environmental risks and risks relating to care and support not properly evaluated. Care plans and risk assessments did not consistently reflect people's current needs, despite some improvements made since the last inspection. No analysis of accidents and incidents was being conducted, meaning staff could not identify patterns to prevent future occurrences. Additionally, medicines were not being managed safely, and shortfalls were noted in safeguarding procedures, infection control measures, and overall service governance. A comprehensive system to ensure regulatory requirements were being met was not in place.
