Birchy Hill Care Home provides accommodation and care for up to 70 people requiring residential or nursing care, including those with complex medical conditions and specialised dementia care needs. The service is arranged over three floors across five separate living units, each with its own staff team. The home features a well-maintained sensory garden with safe, accessible outdoor spaces for residents.

During the inspection, inspectors observed good practice in how the home managed visitor arrangements and infection control. Visits were scheduled by appointment with designated socially-distanced garden areas near each unit, and residents could maintain contact with family and friends through Skype, with computers and support provided by staff. The five units operated as separate entities with dedicated staff teams, including cleaning staff, to reduce cross-infection risks between areas.
