Barton Lodge

Barton Lodge provides personal care for up to eleven older people, some of whom are living with dementia. Seven people were residing at the service during inspection. Staff and visitors were using the kitchen handwashing sink for hand hygiene following care tasks, which posed contamination risks to food preparation areas. The registered manager immediately addressed this concern when discussed. Personal Protective Equipment was stored inappropriately in the food pantry on the ground floor, a issue subsequently remedied. All areas of the home were clean and hygienic overall. While cleaning schedules existed, they lacked sufficient detail and audit processes. Following the inspection, the registered manager developed more detailed cleaning schedules in collaboration with staff.
