Abbeygate Retirement Home

This residential care home accommodates up to 26 people aged 65 and over, providing personal care and accommodation. Staff are well trained and committed to delivering high-quality care, treating residents with kindness and respect while knowing them well. Residents are encouraged and supported to participate in a wide range of activities they enjoy, and relatives feel involved in the service with confidence that concerns will be addressed promptly.

However, not all safety checks were being recorded, and improvements are needed in how risks—particularly those associated with medicines—are assessed and minimised. Effective management systems are in place, with managers taking positive steps to learn lessons and drive improvements. Staff enjoy their work, and residents are positive about how the service is managed.
