A M Care Home, in Thurrock, provides accommodation and personal care for up to eight adults under 65 with mental health needs, autism and learning disabilities. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, finding shortfalls in medicines management, recruitment checks, environmental safety and the use of Mental Capacity Act and DoLS safeguards. Governance remained weak, with audits lacking oversight and previously identified concerns still unresolved.

Inspectors found staff to be kind and caring, with people supported to take part in activities and enjoy positive relationships with staff. Relatives reported visible improvements since a new manager took up post, describing greater stability and a more relaxed atmosphere. However, communication with families was inconsistent, and further improvement is needed to ensure safe, well-led, person-centred care.
