About Westwood House

Westwood House is a residential care home in Swindon, supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people. Further detail from the CQC's most recent findings is set out below.

Westwood House provides support for people with a learning disability and autistic people, following a review prompted by concerns about safeguarding management and staff wellbeing. The CQC rated the service Good overall. Inspectors found clear safeguarding procedures, good understanding of risks among staff, and a clean, safe environment.

People received person-centred care and were supported to access their local community with dignity and respect.

However, the CQC found the provider did not always work in line with legislation on consent to care and treatment, and people were not always fully involved in managing their own risks. Some staff reported feeling unsupported at times. Most families were positive, though one relative wanted better communication about incidents and another raised concerns about cleanliness.
