About Thorne House

Thorne House is a residential care home in Doncaster providing support for people living with learning disabilities and/or autism. The findings below set out what CQC inspectors observed during their most recent visit.

Thorne House provides care and support for up to 18 people living with learning disabilities and/or autism, split across five apartments within one larger home. It remains rated Good overall by the CQC, with a previous outstanding rating for how responsive the service is to people's needs.

Inspectors found people were supported by kind, knowledgeable staff who understood safeguarding and helped people stay safe. People made everyday choices, kept up community links, and saw family freely. However, some relatives and partners raised concerns about staff consistency and reliance on agency workers, which affected people who needed familiar faces around them.
