The Birches

The Birches is a residential care home in Derbyshire providing care for up to seven adults living with mental health conditions and/or physical disabilities. At the time of assessment, five people were using the service. The CQC rated the home Good overall, finding people were protected from abuse and avoidable harm, supported safely in line with their preferences, and that medicines were well managed.

Inspectors found leaders had the skills and oversight needed to run the service effectively, with regular audits driving improvement and a culture where people and staff felt able to speak up. People spoke positively about their care, describing staff as supportive and the management team as approachable and responsive to their needs.
