The Beeches

The Beeches provides personal and nursing care for up to 54 older people, including those living with dementia, across four units within one building. At inspection, 47 residents were living at the home. However, significant concerns were identified regarding infection control and hygiene standards. Paper containing faecal matter was found on a toilet cistern, a bedsheet was stained with faecal matter, and continence pads were not stored safely.

While care needs and residents' preferences were generally recorded, care plans lacked sufficient detail in some cases about how staff should support specific needs. Activities were offered daily but were not always planned based on people's individual interests. Information was not consistently presented in formats accessible to residents' communication needs. Residents reported insufficient staffing levels, with one person stating, "There are not enough staff and it puts me off calling them." People did not always receive prompt support when they needed assistance.
