Bellsgrove Care Home

Bellsgrove Care Home provides personal care and accommodation for up to 15 older people, including those living with dementia, across three floors with communal areas and a lift. At inspection, all 15 places were occupied. Residents and relatives felt safe, and the home had effective recruitment systems and good infection control practices. However, risks associated with care were not always assessed safely, particularly regarding bed rails and supporting people to eat. While staffing levels were sufficient, the inspector recommended more efficient deployment to engage people remaining in their rooms.

The environment did not adequately meet the needs of people with dementia. Activities were not varied enough, and those observed did not always engage people with more profound dementia, especially those spending time in their rooms. Healthcare access was sometimes delayed. Staff supported people with choice and control, using the least restrictive approach in their best interests.
