About Springfield House

Springfield House is a residential care home in Cumberland, providing support for people with learning disabilities and autistic people in a small farm setting. Further details on the findings from its most recent CQC inspection are set out below.

Springfield House is a small residential care home in Cumberland for up to four people with learning disabilities and autistic people, run by a family team on a farm setting. The CQC rated it Requires Improvement overall, having found breaches relating to consent, safe care, person-centred care and governance. Risk management, recruitment checks, fire safety and staffing records all fell short, and care planning was inconsistent.

Inspectors also found warm, caring staff and a calm, homely atmosphere, with people and relatives speaking positively about their experiences. However, care was not always personalised, night-time call systems were unreliable, and the home's remote location limited people's independent access to the community. The provider has been asked to submit an improvement plan.
