Sovereign House

Sovereign House is a large detached property in Herne Bay, a short walk from the beach and town centre, with lift access to two floors. The service provides residential care and support for up to ten older people, some living with dementia. At inspection, nine people were residing at the service. People and their relatives spoke positively about the care, describing staff as very caring and supportive. Inspectors observed that staff interacted well with residents and had formed good relationships with them and their families.

The service maintains robust safeguarding policies and procedures, with staff demonstrating clear understanding of how to keep people safe. People's needs and preferences are assessed, with risks identified and managed through formal plans. Medicines are administered, stored and managed safely, and staff follow infection control practices to prevent infections. Recruitment checks are thorough and sufficient staff are available to meet people's needs. Staff possess the appropriate skills, knowledge and experience, supported through induction, training and supervision.
