Russell House

Russell House is a care home providing support to 20 people with a learning disability and autistic people. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, following an inspection prompted by a coroner case. Inspectors found breaches relating to safe care and treatment, consent, and governance, with risks not always identified, inconsistent record-keeping, and gaps in following the Mental Capacity Act.

People were protected from abuse, had good access to health professionals, and took part in a wide range of person-centred activities. Staff were suitably recruited and trained, though competencies were not always fully assessed. Relatives spoke positively about care, safety, staffing and communication, noting recent improvements under the registered manager.
