ResCare, in West Northamptonshire, provides respite care and support for people with care needs. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, though caring was rated Good. Inspectors found risks were not consistently reviewed before respite stays, restrictive practices were used without proper legal authorisation, and gaps were found in medicines management, staff recruitment and fire and infection control checks.

Staff were kind and knew people well, supporting their independence, dignity and choices, and relatives said their family members were safe and well cared for. However, governance systems were not effective at identifying problems, and the provider has been told it must improve.
