Pogles Wood

Pogles Wood provides accommodation and personal care for one person with profound and multiple learning disabilities. The person is non-verbal but happy and engaged, and staff interpret their sounds and movements to understand their needs. Inspectors found the service well adapted to the person's needs, with sensory equipment and daily outings, and staff who provided care with kindness and respect.

The CQC found some gaps, including missing Mental Capacity Act assessments for specific decisions and a lack of familiarity with formal guidance on supporting autistic people and those with learning disabilities. The provider had since begun addressing these issues, including seeking an independent advocate for the person. Overall the service was rated good.
