Mayfield House

Mayfield House is a purpose-built residential care home with two separate units caring for up to 51 people, including older adults and those living with dementia. At inspection, 40 people were using the service, with one unit specialising in dementia care. Inspectors found significant concerns with medicines management, noting that systems were not sufficiently robust to ensure people received their prescribed medications safely. The provider's previous attempts to address errors and discrepancies had not been effective, and concerns were referred to the local authority for further support.

Risk assessments at the home did not consistently include enough individualised information to help mitigate risks, and some were missing entirely. While staff took some action to reduce potential risks, the provider's governance and oversight systems were not always effective. Despite the provider's audits identifying areas for improvement, they did not identify all the issues inspectors discovered during the inspection.
