Lavender Fields - Care Home with Nursing

Lavender Field provides personal and nursing care to nine people with physical and learning disabilities. While the service had governance systems including audits and monitoring, actions were not always documented or clearly completed. The manager lacked knowledge of guidance for supporting people with learning disabilities and autism, which meant staff were similarly unaware. Staff reported insufficient time to encourage people's independence through involvement in daily tasks, and activity records showed limited daytime engagement.

People received appropriate risk assessments and medicines when needed. Staff received training covering aspects of their roles, though they identified gaps in learning disability and autism training. Overall, the service was unable to demonstrate how it was meeting key principles around respect, equality, dignity, choice and independence for the people it supported.
