Knappe Cross Care Centre

Knappe Cross Care Centre provides personal and nursing care for up to 42 older people in a detached house set in beautiful grounds in Exmouth, East Devon. At inspection, 35 people were using the service.

Inspectors found that systems to monitor well-being were not fully effective, particularly for people at risk due to constipation. Staff were not consistently proactive in responding to and addressing risks in a timely way. Medicines were not always managed safely or in line with the provider's medication policy. Risk assessments had not been completed regarding flammable paraffin-based creams, and appropriate guidance had not been sought.
