Knappe Cross Care Centre

Knappe Cross Care Centre, in Devon, is a nursing home registered to support up to 42 people, including older people living with dementia. At the time of the assessment, 34 people were living there. The CQC has rated the service good overall, an improvement from the previous requires improvement rating, after the provider addressed concerns about governance raised in an earlier warning notice.

Inspectors found a strong learning culture, with staff who felt supported by a new management team and comfortable raising concerns. Risks, medicines and recruitment were managed safely, and people spoke warmly of kind, attentive staff. Some gaps in call bell access and staffing were noted, but these were being addressed by management.
