Kitwood House Care Residence is a residential care home offering personal and nursing care to up to 68 people, including those living with dementia, across four units. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, finding breaches relating to safe care, consent and governance. Medicines were not always managed safely, staff said there were not enough of them, and care plans lacked guidance for deteriorating conditions.
Inspectors also found positive interactions between staff and residents, and relatives described staff as caring and supportive, saying they felt loved ones were safe. However, inspectors observed some people distressed with insufficient staff time to help. The provider must now show it can meet legal requirements around safety and mental capacity.
