Hollybank Rest Home

Hollybank Rest Home accommodates up to 23 older people who are physically frail or living with dementia. During inspection, 22 residents were living at the home. The service has implemented several measures to support residents and staff. Visits are by appointment and staggered, with a designated visiting room featuring a large clear screen to enable socially distanced visits. An iPad has been provided for residents to use for remote contact, and window visits have been arranged for residents with dementia. The registered manager established a COVID information board following resident suggestions and improved communications throughout the home.

The service demonstrates strong staff support and contingency planning. Staff with health concerns have been supported to shield, and the manager arranged rotas to ensure all staff could attend testing sessions. New staff members are required to self-isolate for seven days before starting work and are tested beforehand. The home has also developed good community links, with arrangements to use a local restaurant's freezers for emergency food storage if needed.
