Fir Trees House

Fir Trees House, in Surrey, is a residential care home providing personal care for up to 7 adults with a learning disability, some with autistic traits or enduring mental health conditions. The CQC rated the home Requires Improvement overall. Inspectors found remaining breaches in person-centred care and governance, insufficient night staff, and staff who were task-focused rather than supporting people to build independence or take part in community life.

Medicines were managed safely and staff spoke positively about the management team, but feedback from people and relatives was mixed, with some describing staff as unsympathetic. The premises were being refurbished at the time of assessment, though people continued to lead isolated lives with little encouragement to socialise.
