Emerald House

Emerald House provides personal care for up to three younger adults and people with mental health needs in an adapted building. At inspection, all three service users were present.

Staff support people with their medicines, though medicines administration was sometimes carried out by staff without up to date competency assessments to confirm they had the required skills and knowledge. Competency assessments did not cover the administration of controlled drugs, leaving potential risks unaddressed. Protocols for 'as and when required' medicines lacked sufficient information to guide staff on when to administer them or ensure best practice standards were met.
