About Duncan House

Duncan House is a residential care home in West Berkshire, providing support to people with learning disabilities and autism. Details of the most recent CQC inspection are set out below.

Duncan House supports eight people with learning disabilities and autism in a purpose-built domestic home with individual bedrooms and communal areas. The service is conveniently located near local amenities and public transport. The home operates according to principles of choice, independence and inclusion, aiming to help people lead as ordinary a life as possible.

Inspectors found concerns with the management of medication. Although the registered manager conducted quality assurance audits to monitor the service, these were not always effective at identifying problems. Specifically, medication records were not always accurate and contained conflicting information about people's medicines, which represents a safety risk that the auditing process had failed to catch.
