Conquest House

Conquest House provides care and support to people with autism, learning disabilities and mental health conditions, with 13 residents at the time of inspection. The service had implemented strict infection control measures including hand washing and temperature checks for all visitors, full personal protective equipment protocols, and organized residents into small "bubbles" of no more than four people, each with dedicated staff and separate communal areas. Only senior staff moved between bubbles and followed rigorous procedures for removing and reapplying PPE between areas. The registered manager created social stories to help residents understand COVID-19, and staff used visual demonstrations with pepper to explain germ transmission and why masks were necessary, while also offering residents the option to wear masks themselves.
