Buckingham House

Buckingham House accommodates up to 53 older people, some living with dementia, across three floors. The second floor opened in summer offering more independent living accommodation. The home provides nursing care and features multiple seating areas and a well-maintained garden. Residents and relatives describe the home as homely, welcoming, and friendly, with one relative calling it "a breath of fresh air" and praising the high level of cleanliness. Staff are recruited for appropriate skills and attributes, and those administering prescribed medicines have been deemed competent.

The service does not currently have a system ensuring temporary staff possess required professional skills and registration. This gap presents a risk, particularly for nursing staff who must maintain current professional body registration. The inspector made a recommendation to address this concern in the full report.
