Brookside

This residential care home provides accommodation and personal care for 18 older people and younger adults living with learning disabilities or dementia. Residents are supported to maintain their wellbeing and continue with preferred routines and activities, with people observed to be happy and relaxed while participating in gardening, cooking, and other pursuits. The registered manager has implemented innovative approaches to keep people safe while enabling them to do what matters to them most.

The home maintained a clean environment with measures put in place to support social distancing and infection control. Staff communicated safety procedures clearly to residents through meetings and easy-to-read displays, helping people understand the need for enhanced personal protective equipment and testing protocols. Visits from family and friends were facilitated in line with government guidance, with visitors undergoing rapid COVID-19 tests and temperature checks before entry. The service undertook regular cleaning audits and implemented additional cleaning tasks to identify further improvements.
