Could the NHS fund Blyth Country House Care Home's fees?
NHS Continuing Healthcare could cover 100% of care costs with no means test.
Blyth Country House Care Home is a nursing home providing care to 19 people, with capacity for up to 30. The service implemented effective infection prevention measures, including asking visitors to complete lateral flow device tests and providing personal protective equipment. During COVID-19 outbreaks, visits were restricted except for relatives of people nearing the end of their life, with alternative contact maintained through video calls, window visits and phone calls. Staff received appropriate training on wearing PPE correctly and had ample supplies available.
The home maintained robust cleaning schedules covering frequently touched areas such as light switches and door handles. The registered manager completed regular infection prevention and control audits with prompt action on any issues identified. People and staff participated in regular testing schemes, and the provider's policies reflected current government guidance on infection control.
