Bells Piece - Care Home Learning Disabilities

Bells Piece, in Surrey, is a residential home providing care for up to 13 adults with a learning disability and autistic people. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, finding three breaches of regulations covering safe care, person-centred care and governance. Inspectors found cleanliness issues, inconsistent risk records, and weak oversight of medicines storage, made worse by over a year without a registered manager.

Despite this, staff were found to be kind and knew people well, and residents spoke positively about life at the home, enjoying community activities such as swimming and volunteering. However, inspectors found people were not always supported to develop aspirations or have full involvement in running their home, and quality checks had not caught the shortfalls identified.
