Avondale Care Home

Avondale Care Home supports 76 older adults aged 65 and over across six units on three floors, providing residential, nursing, dementia and respite care. Each unit has separate adapted facilities and the service can accommodate up to 90 people in total.

During inspection, staff had detailed guidance in place for administering medicines covertly. However, some people on time-specific medicines did not always receive them in line with best practice guidance, meaning residents were not always protected from the risks associated with unsafe medicines administration. Despite this concern, people reported feeling safe living at Avondale and were unanimous in confirming their safety at the home.
