Calvert Trust Kielder provides accommodation and personal care for up to 20 people with physical disabilities and learning disabilities, typically for short breaks lasting one to two weeks. The service focuses on outdoor activities in the forest and at the nearby reservoir, designed to help people develop new skills and greater independence while promoting choice and control. During the inspection, six people were using the service.
People told inspectors they felt safe and well looked after by staff. The service had assessed risks associated with daily activities and taken action to minimise these. Safeguarding procedures were in place to protect people from potential abuse.
The home was kept clean and tidy, and medicines were well managed.
