What do CQC ratings actually mean? Trying to understand the report for a home we're considering

We've been looking at a care home for my mum and it's rated Good by the CQC. i've tried reading the inspection report but it's very long and hard to follow. Does Good actually mean good? And should I be worried if the last inspection was a few years ago? Any advice apreciated.
