How far is too far for a care home?

The homes closest to us are not great either expensive or not rated well. There's a really nice one about 22 miles away that ticks all the boxes. Dad is quite sociable and has friends nearby. I'm worried that moving him further away will affect his quality of life and make it harder for us to visit regularly. But the home itself is much better.

Has anyone had to make this call?
