does Good actually mean good?

We've narrowed it down to two homes near us. One is rated Outstanding, one is Good. The Outstanding one is £200 a week more expensive. Is the difference worth it? And does a Good rating actually mean the home is... good? I've read the reports and honestly they both seem fine. Just wondering if anyone has experience of both types and whether the rating really translates into day to day life

Honestly in my experience the rating is a starting point not the full picture. Mum was in a Good rated home that was genuinely wonderful, caring staff, nice atmosphere, she was happy. A friend's dad was in an Outstanding home that felt a bit cold and clinical. Visit both if you can and trust your gut when you walk in. how the staff talk to residents tells you a lot.
